Fair enough, but I'm not arguing that this clause within the rules makes everything okay and shouldn't be changed. I'm simply saying that, if someone chooses to base his argument on the rules, he should acknowledge all of the rules. You seem like a logical guy, so I hope you understand the difference between telling someone to pay attention to all the rules if he's going to allow his argument to hinge on them, and actively saying nothing needs to be changed regarding the TPG system and everything is cool.

In terms of his argument vs yours, you were clearly correct. I couldn't very well jump into that and say "sorry kirk, you can't quote that rule because it's not meant to be used literally". What gives me the right claim such a thing? In a literal sense your stance was unassailable (if not hyperbolic), and in terms of dealing with kyle perfectly reasonable.

But as it starts to get parroted around the thread, and other people start to weigh in, the idea gains momentum and traction. You understand the frame of your argument and the underlying themes, but some people take it at face value. It moves beyond a "hyperbolic device to counter Kyle's point" and starts in the direction of "justification for admins to do anything". After reading Will's posts and the responses, I felt the need to articulate.

It is easy to imagine the next time rule drama happens that those catch-alls get quoted more often, and that it would become the standard response. Then maybe an admin has a bad day and makes a bad call and suspends a player who doesn't deserve it. Maybe the community doesn't like said player and refutes his complaints by pointing to the catch-alls.

Maybe I'm a little more sensitive to this because I have often been on the "wrong side" of the community.

So to avoid that "slippery slope" that "might" occur I decided to take a stab at the subject. It's not easy to say "technically you are right, but the precedence your argument creates is wrong" and explain using only abstract terms. I wanted to make it clear that, other than agreements between team captains, utilizing catch-all rules should be avoided. That the community should not accept them as the status quo, and instead appreciate consistent rulings. I also felt like the TPG admins were getting some flak they didn't deserve, and wanted everyone to understand that both the rematch AND the FF were good decisions that should be respected. That they chose to re-match when they could have thrown out the dispute letting mvp advance. Then giving mindflow the ff win, just to remove any shadow of a doubt of admin favoring, is amazing. I don't know how anyone can look at that with anything but admiration.

Through reading all this shit, I can say charr is deff the biggest piece of **** pile of shit in my life when it comes down to understanding the concepts of cercomstances that become more then just what the rules can be solely based upon but by conceptual judgement of the situation. I'm in KS, and really this is the fact. Gohan was rating but not intentionally. Like tox said it it was up to him, he would of had us do a remach which is a fair judgement. The fact that Narc was the one to do it, yah it may of not seemed fair but that was in his own judgement of the situation and not Toxinator like you had where you could of done the rematch. Instead Narc gave you guys the win, he did not bitch even though it might not be fair to his own teamates and could of still won. Your team it seems is not supporting you, which means they highly dont see the logic in your sayings.

The Rating rules do need to be changed, where that if its unitentional that you where rating for because of defualt values. I think it should go like this

1st Voilation: Rematch
2nd Voilation: individual 2 week suspension, redo match.
3rd voilation: Match is forfieted, individual gets banned till next season.

Thats more fair minded about the rating crap, this game is to be about fun. Your taking it to the level charr of where it becomes piss and shit in the pot for everyone. Dod is not dying because of no one is playing it anymore, its dying because of shitheads like you that make it no fun when it comes to shit like this.
