Seems like a low cost-high benefit situation. If the Source kids **** up the opportunity, then it's no loss to Sears or Narc or anyone in 1.3. If they make the most of it, the communities are both a little bit stronger by way of combining community and competitive hubs.

This is all I see happening here. These two communities just aren't going to play nice with each other.
Re: DOD:S
Half the problem is that its not the entire source community as a whole looking to merge. They still have TCN aka DCN. That league is still set up and running with admins and teams. Would all the source teams come over to tpg? Maybe not at first but there would be a chance they would after seeing how TPG is just an easier site to use and just ran better imo. So it would be a very slow process with souce coming over. As for 1911, I think on paper its a good thing, but in reality it will just be a flame war between the two. I dont know why source and 1.3 never got along. I dont think 1.3 gets along with any other community. As many goof balls as we have in 1.3, I love our goofballs. Wouldn't want it any other way. I just think as long as TCN is up and running it will just be a fight to see who merges with who and not the source community joining as a whole. I dont think they have that many teams to sustain both. They need to stick together like we do. Either with TCN or TPG, not both. When I was with DCN the 1.3 community actually embrassed it and supported me, I thought that was great and shows me how close this community really is. The source community dont have that. That will be their downfall.
Re: DOD:S
I doubt the source community will switch to TPG fully, but we were considering TPG as an option for a sunday league which is a step your way. We're either doing this at Fragdods, or possibly TPG. There's pros and cons to both options for us. I don't understand why this had to be posted publicly, but if this is in TPG's best interest let me know.
Regarding the forums, I think trying to merge the source community to nineteeneleven would pretty much kill what's left of the source community. It's pretty dead right now, but it can be revived. I'm actually considering the COF mod depending on what the community thinks.

How would adding a sub-forum on 1911 for source players kills what's left of the source community? That makes zero sense at all. You're not being forcibly relocated to 1911 or TPG like Polish Jews.pande wrote:I doubt the source community will switch to TPG fully, but we were considering TPG as an option for a sunday league which is a step your way. And as far as the doubts about the source and 1.3 communities' ability to get along with one another on 1911, it's a self-policing problem. If it does result in a flame war, then the Source kids will be banned pretty quick because of all the rep power 1.3 players have on here.
I don't see any real cons to this proposal, besides the time investment in adding another division section on the TPG website and a sub-forum on 1911 (which is probably pretty negligible, but that's not my department).
Re: DOD:S
Adding a sub-forum on nineteeneleven for source wouldn't do anything at all to harm the game. It might actually help, but transferring the community and using nineteeneleven as the primary source site and then the whole thing falling out over time because of retarded feuds would probably do a lot of damage to it. Since 1.3 is on Sunday, I realize TPG probably wouldn't want to open a competing source league during the same night, so maybe monday or thursday would be best.

What do you mean you don't understand. More than one person puts effort into this site and TPG combined. Have a little respect. The 1.3 community is better than the source community for a reason...pande wrote:II don't understand why this had to be posted publicly...
