A Handy Guide to Pubs

Post by Sharky »

This will be my last post(thank god I know) so I've decided to make a little guide to help you guys survive the pub servers.

It seems to me that there is quite a bit of US vs them attitude on here. There is an inherent problem when you join people that play for fun and people that play for competition. Seeing that most severs are pubs these days you guys are going to have to modify your style of play. I know your going "I'm not changing anything blah blah blah." well fine get banned from most of the pubs. So here's a list of things to do to make it more enjoyable for everyone.

1. I know most of you turn your voice off. This is a bad idea would it kill you guys to talk? When someone is friendly and good it is a whole lot different then silent and good. Just like in life first impressions are everything.

2. Which leads me into this read the server rules if they are posted before you join. Don't wait for someone to tell you it, sets a bad foot forward. Don't agree with a rule don't play on that server simple enough. I don't come into your house light up a cigar, piss on the carpet, and then put my muddy feet on the couch. It's their server follow the rules and for god sake don't argue. If you manage to offend offer a simple apology and move on.

3. If you are in a clan and XXX member was banned from the server it's most likely a good idea to take the tag off. They will already be biased before you even select a class.

4. This is one of the big ones that you guys seem to have an issue with. When you are in a server full of people that play solely for fun remember they are they for FUN. Nothing is worse then watching a server get cleared out by someone that is genuinely good. Nobody enjoys getting their ass kicked across the map and back when you do this it sucks the fun right outta the room. You continuously empty a server and I guarantee the admin will have a issue with this. There is so few people left that we work hard to create a causal and fun environment, we don't need somebody to come in and prove they can go 100 and 10. You can? Great for you !You just emptied my sever for the last time....BAN. It has nothing to do with your skills and if they are legit or not. It has every reason to do with you screwing over my server. If you are aware of it or not you need to be.

5. Following the last one the common misconception I can't turn these mad skills off. So much of DOD is just reaction and I understand that but you can give people a break. If you run your score up high grab a bazooka and have some fun, hide in dark corners and stab people in the eye, use the greasegun turd, or grab a rifle and smack people in the face. Were back to no one likes to get their ass kicked 24/7, doing this gives people a chance to get a few kills and have some fun.

6. Back to your playing with people 1/2 your skill or less when one of them does manage to kill you saying NS or something similar makes them go "YESSSSS" and feel important just for a few seconds. It makes you much for enjoyable to play with.

7. Offer advice and or explanations to people. When someone says "How did you me in the dark room?" tell them that they should tweak their monitor/game settings for better vision. Or hell sometimes they just need to be told that you watched them go into that room. Silence is a omission of guilt. When you run around a corner and pop someone in the head sometimes a simple "Holy shit that was luck" or "I saw you there before" explanation makes you more fun to game with. Were back to #1 people that talk and are generally friendly are less likely to have issues on the server.

8. This one falls under #2 but since it happens so much it deserves its own. Don't argue with any admins. Most pub severs are run by people who have full time jobs and DOD is nothing more then a stress relief. When you come on and fight you are fixin' to get banned. Feel that you've been dealt a short hand? Move on. Arguing your case isn't going to get you anywhere this isn't the supreme court.

9. Avoid coming in groups larger then 2 and 4 depending on server volume. Why 2 and 4 you ask? Simple you and your buddy are going to pick opposite teams. Skill levels balance out on teams that way you prevent your buddy from slaughtering the other team and vise versa. Stacking teams with your friends and slaughtering the other side goes back to #4 and one of the main reasons why pubs take issue with certain individuals.

10. Take a good attitude with you wherever you go. Seems simple enough but I would have to say that the NUMBER ONE reason people get banned is because they come off like some butthurt 12 year old. Most of us deal with assholes every day at work last thing we need is to catch one on our server.

There you have it boys and girls. Follow these simple steps and I guarantee that you will never have a single issue on any sever.

Sincerly,
Sharky

Ill sum this up for everyone.

Hes shitty and thinks we should play like mentally challenged 3 year olds in a ball pit. Should also enable ingame mics so we can hear 40 people talk at once about inane shit that just ruins the entire game for you.

You don't want me to come into contact with a bazooka.
You would not like me with a bazooka.
