DoD FPS Issue

Post by kanguhhh »

So 3 days ago now I started having some severe FPS issues with DoD only. Whenever I get around someone, whenever someone is shooting at me or whenever I'm shooting at someone really my fps just drops to around 40-50 and my game is incredibly choppy and hard to play. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling my drivers, uninstalling/reinstalling dod, and tried to set DoD on high priority for shits and giggles and none of it worked. The only issue is with DoD 1.3. I can run games like CoD4 at 250 fps constant. Do any of you gurus have any ideas?

As I said in vent, try running the game in d3d. That worked for me when I had this issue with my old computer.

I never had a problem w/ fps issues in my previous machines.
I met poor performance in dod after installing a couple of Radeon 7950's in crossfire while running in d3d.
I had always run dod in d3d before this build and never had a problem.
When I ran the game in open gl the issue was eliminated and the game runs normal with the fps pinned, regardless of fps_max setting.

Try cl_dynamiclights "0"

That seem to fix my issue when I'm shooting at someone and my fps randomly drops to 50-60.

Are you running 2 video cards in SLI? My game was running choppy when I first got SLI so I disabled it for hl.exe

That's odd. I don't seem to have any issues but I might have accidentally configured SLI to do this. I remember there being a setting for primary/secondary graphics cards.

if your running on a high speed net, and your computer is fairly new. I would consider try doing what I did by lowering the FPS_Max to 85 and FPS modem to 90 and see how that does. Also set your CPU affinity to 1 core, since this game was made on outdated tech that causes problems for some newer computers.

Also I am running on AMD 6770's in crossfire, and Iv never had a problem where I had to disable just ti increase my fps. it sounds more like bottlenecking then anything, so I would try setting your CPU Affinity to 1 and try the FPS changes also like I said up top.
