I'm only half way through it but it's a big book and a lot to take in

just finished the book thief and would recommend. if you haven't read the ender's game/shadow series, i would recommend those as well.

I just started reading The Gentleman **** series and so far I'm really digging it. Kind of a mystery series set in a fantasy type world (think Game of Thrones, not LotR). Picked up the first book mainly because RR Martin gave it some good reviews.

Be a man and read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick. Then double-down on your manliness and read The 3 Stigmata of Palmer Edritch.

Looks like I am a half man then Mitch, I haven't read the 3 Stigmata of Palmer Edritch, but will definitely add that to my list. My favorite PKD story by far was A Scanner Darkly though (probably because I saw the movie prior to discovering PKD's writing). I met a girl on a plane who told me that I should read The Man in the High Castle, after arriving I ordered it and then immediately got hooked on all of PKD's writing. That also introduced me to Vonnegut as they kind of go hand in hand for science fiction from the second half of the twentieth century.

I ended up choosing Nexus to read, as Josh said it is a pretty hard science fiction story but I am enjoying it. I appreciate all of the recommendations though, it is fun to hear what everyone else likes to read. I have toiled with the idea of reading the Ender's game series and think I may add those to my list of wanting to read as well.
