Steelseries Sensei RAW

Post by sevEN »

Has anyone used this mouse? I was looking for a replacement for my ms3.0 that recently started malfunctioning on me and came across this one. i have read some reviews and they are great for the most part, but wanted to check in here to see if anyone has an opinion on it. it is already ordered and should be here tomorrow so either way i will get to test it out myself and send it back if i don't like it.

what i am mostly concerned about is the way it tracks. have any of you had problems with the way this mouse tracks? Did you install the software or just plug and play? i had some bad experiences with an old razer mouse that was laser, not optical. it seemed to get buggy when i would twitch the mouse sideways on a snap shot. i ended up getting rid of it and going back to the optical ms3.0, but now i am ready to give laser a try again, especially since it is from a different company.

thoughts?

I switch up between the sensei raw and zowie fk1 and have no issues with either. Sensei glides really nicely and I've never had a problem with the sensor skipping(I use a steelseries heavy, not sure how it reacts on a hard pad) zowie fk1 is all around a good mouse. Nice size, light and glides a lot smoother than the sensei.

thank you for the reply dustin. i appreciate it. i have been using it for a while tonight and it has really grown on me. i am having trouble using the software though. it doesn't seem to be opening up after i have installed it, and the first time it opened, i was not able to adjust the illumination.

Also, since you have one, you might be able to help me with this. I was under the impression that the ms3.0 was a 400 dpi mouse by default. when i put the raw to a 400 dpi or "cpi" as they call it, it seems waaay too slow. i have to use somewhere around 810-900 "cpi" in the program to get it close to the same feel as my old ms3.0. but, i would rather be able to get it exact by just matching the dpi settings from the ms3.0 and the raw.

i guess my question is the cpi on the raw a direct relation to the dpi on a ms3.0? aka, ms3.0 dpi 400 = sensei cpi 400? It doesn't seem like it.

Good question that I don't have an answer for~

I went from a normal sensei to the raw so I haven't any issues with the mouse feeling any different. My only guess it to adjust the CPI little by little to replicate the feel of your ms3.0 or set the CPI to 450 and adjust your ingame sensitivity to see if you can replicate it that way.

Or try 878 CPI, just a wild guess.

i'll play cs go if you need one, hit me up if i am online. although i am having trouble logging into my steam right now after my reformat. i used a REALLY old e-mail for my steam account (created 2002 or something) which i have not been able to access in years. now they emailed me some kind of special validation code to that email that i cannot check lol. it's really pissing me off.

sbcglobal.net was bought out by att and/or yahoo and i am not able to sign into it.

I'm sure Valve would reset the email if you could provide other details associated with it. As for mice, I haven't been able to use anything else but my MS 3.0. I tried a sensai and it just doesn't have the same feel (too small). I'm fairly certain that you can still get MS 3.0s online (I bought a few a couple years ago just in case).

I tried to recover my original steam account about 2 years ago and valve wasn't helpful at all if you don't have access to the email. I had the same problem. I could give them the name, address, the credit card linked to it went, but with out the validation email they basically said I was sol.

edit changed steam to valve

Valve will restore access of your account if you open up a support ticket sending them proof that you own the account. CD keys scan (in case you still have them collecting dust in your cabinet) or proof of payment of recent games bought should be enough. On a side note, I have never been able to make the transition for the newer mice gadgets. I'm still stuck with 400dpi forever by using a MS intellimouse and its chinese copies variations 1.1 since 2006 or so. Before that I relied heavily in the best model ever created: Logitech MX300. Too bad the G5 of nowadays only emulates the format of the masterpiece. Seeing Roccat's mice make me wonder if they really worth the price.
