ITF CPL 2005 MOVIE IN 2021

Hey everyone, I talked to Shaq about old demos recently looking to make a full recap video. The only demos he had were from CPL and I thought it would be a fun nostalgia trip to make a full recap of one of the halves. The narrative is as accurate as it can be while it’s made by a bias editor; but I feel like I did my best to capture the best frags where ever the action was. I really want to mention burritoman as he was a very difficult opponent on lan. Most of his deaths were getting shot on the back from flanks that his team could not contain. Full disclosure that on axis half we did win, but it was much closer and our plaza team was held in spawn for a majority of the half. It was a lot of fun to make this video, and jedi has the idea for us to commentate the video. All those details are in the info of the YouTube video.

I should also say that if you’re wanting music, put your own music on and mute the video... treat it like the Wizard of Oz and try to find out what album I synced the movie with. I’m very happy with how the video turned out, and I hope you enjoy it too.

HAHA! Enjoyed listening to the commentary. You did a good job of cycling through to make sure it switched to people that were getting kills too. Kept your attention the whole time. Fun to watch Bill, thanks for that!

I had a lot of fun making it. Having it be a landslide of my team and close friends definitely added to the enjoyment; but I’d be really tempted to make a video of another hltv that was much closer and much higher skill ceiling. If anyone has hltv demos that fit that criteria, let me know!

Also: this took 20-30 hours to do, so if I were to do it again, I would be very selective on the demos. Lan tournaments, finals, multiple dod legends in game, those factors would really influence me if I were to do it again.

For everyone who is enjoying the video, I’m really glad. The meat grinder that was plaza really had me cracking up trying to capture the action, and Leon’s “the carnage” in the most serious tone almost had me falling out of my chair.

I can’t get any of those demos to play more than 5 seconds with out crashing.. is it because it’s dod 1.2?

Yeah, there was a HL update sometime around 2012? that made it so older demos won't work anymore

I know there are some ways to workaround and get old demos to function for movie making purposes but I don't know what those are.

I had to use a tool to fix protol 47/48 and it worked for demos that were from 05, but all the demos from 04 seem to not be working

Yeah, col demo player and a different tool can load the demos but then after 6 seconds or so hl.exe crashes.
