I understand why Tin Bad wants us to use default for the first 5 cvars. The following cvars MUST use default values
gl_monolights “0″
m_pitch “0.022000″
m_side “0.8″
m_yaw “0.022″
s_a3d “0″
Lightgamma “2.5″
Over the years, lightgamma has always been illegal. It was never allowed in LAN tournaments. This is nothing new, and changing your lightgamma value has put you at an unfair advantage over those who abide by the long lasting rules and don't change it. The only thing that's new is that it now can be enforced on the internet.Joshinator wrote:I understand why Tin Bad wants us to use default for the first 5 cvars. The following cvars MUST use default values

However I don't understand why he wants us to use default lightgamma. Unless I'm mistaken, most of us have different monitors in different lighting conditions. Being able to light up the game based upon monitor brightness is essential. Can someone explain this to me?
I'll admit, I'm pretty against CleanDoD already, as I really don't want to be mining bitcoin's for foreigners. I'll use it though. I just would really like it if we didn't suddenly outlaw cvars that pretty much make the game playable on my monitor.
Well poop. I guess my newness to this game is showing.ward wrote:Lightgamma has nothing to do with monitor brightness settings. It fundamentally changes how the game engine treats light sources. This can cause balance issues on many different maps and as a result it has been banned from competitive play since the beginning.
