I've noticed a big difference so far with the way the "overnight hero's" are suddenly taken down to their true level. Everyone (including myself) complains/bitches about people cheating and when something is done to prevent that you complain about that. I don't know what any of the issue's are that people are having with it not working, but if you do things such as screenshot the errors, let it report the errors, and talk with tpg admins or cleandod developer(s) about it you could help fix any errors with the program so everyone can play without issue. I only see this as a step forward in the community which might pull in more attention from old or non dod players. Knowing you have a client that's going to prevent cheating in any form will make people feel more comfortable about spending any amount of time on trying to improve their skill in such an old game. I like seeing all the new changes and rules for this season. its a step in the right direction just go with the flow.
I did fine against dgf last week, and I'm outspoken against this client. I was having framerate and freezing issues in the match, which may or may not have been because of this client. I have godawful internet that spikes to 300 anyways, so I can't say for sure, but the idea that people are just lying about this is pretty **** stupid, and a lack of Mac functionality makes a poor case for keeping this client.

That being said, the admin response in this thread is mature and well-reasoned. Hopefully they can work out the kinks. Just don't make yourself look like a idiot in a tinfoil hat with brilliant "people who don't like this client cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet" arguments.

WTf?!

Kevo you would have been better off not getting any response from this jackoff.

The fact is the decision to use cleandod was made before this clownshoe was even named to be on tinbad's commitee of suckasses.

They have no idea how the application functions, and therefore have no control over how it disenfranchises honest players who are having trouble with it.
As a user of the software you have just as much influence on it, in regards to reporting problems with it, as these clueless idiots insisting on it's adoption do.

Furthermore they have zero control over the data that it collects on, among other things, the very processes you run on your machine (including security software), or your ip address coupled with your steamid.
It does not belong to them in any way, and they do not control this information or the client itself (let alone understand it in any way that is practical).

The truth is miller is simply going with the flow and had **** to do with the decision to use it (as he wasn't present for the decision to use it in the 1st place), and knows even less about what's wrong with it and how to fix it.
Alas that doesn't seem to slow his roll when suggesting you kiss his ass in an "admin" capacity as if he would be the least bit effective in any change in this matter what so ever.

You'd get just as productive a response from inviting him and his gaggle of **** to **** off.
Which would be my advice.

Miller, relative to most, has done an enormous amount for this community. I'd consider showing a semblance of respect and maturity toward him as, in my 4 years of knowing him, he has always had well-guided intentions. Disagreeing with him on one thing can be done in a way where the entirety of his character is not attacked. I wonder how many times you have talked in the vent which he pays for, or played on the server he pays for, without him asking for anything in return of any of us.

All your post does is create greater hostility and force people into corners. If you want to actually sway someone's mind, don't put them in a position where they'd have to feel embarrassment to change their stance (if you tell someone they are stupid for believing something, then that person is more reluctant to change his mind because it will simply appear to verify your accusation). That is precisely what you are doing; you are actively making people more secure in their beliefs, beliefs which you claim to be doing wrong. If your intention is to change the state of things for the better, then realize you are actively doing the opposite.

Now, take the hostility out of your post and I agree with much of what you are saying. It makes me very nervous that this is something collecting data which we do not control. Perhaps it is misguided paranoia, but it still does make me nervous. I wish I knew more about the client itself, though admittedly I probably do not have the technical knowledge to make sense of it and would require someone much brighter than me to dumb it down a bit.

Beyond this ordeal, the fact of the matter is I have heard many voice complaints regarding this client. Be it the issue with Apple computers, or significant lagging in-game. I could not get mine to work because of various technical issues which I believe are sorted out now, so I am only speaking on behalf of the experience voiced by others.

How many of you with CleanDoD issues or using a MAC have made an official support ticket? I can tell you 100% whining and crying on 1911 does not help.

Give me source code to this ac client. And I'll check what it is really doing(if anything).

Let's get more people doing this. Because if this thing is doing anything it shouldn't be doing (defined by how the program has been explained to me), consider me out of TPG.

Okay, if you GOOGLE your steam id, you're 95% sure to find your IP from one of the pubs, for example AMX mod records your IP and put it up on the stats page.

Also, if you're worried it might be a virus or anything, install the AC, run the AC, and then give me a hijackthis log from you, and ill check it out.

Also, virus alerts, in general, if a program or any other component of a program(such as a .dll file) is trying to INTERFERE, with another program, then most AV's WILL notice it, since that is similiar to how a virus/spyware works. Very basic explanation, but yeah, it's similar.

If you're REALLY worried, or maybe one of the TPG admins, could send the AC client to a a security company, for example Kaspersky(http://support.kaspersky.com/virlab/helpdesk.html).
