My biggest dod influence was dod_avalanche. Never looked to any players to hone my lack of skills. I'm still awful and this is my last 1911 post. Later!

Wow, I'm not even sure where to start. Of any "community" I've ever been a part of, DoD always had the most interesting personalities, which I think was reinforced by the relatively small playerbase. Even among people that hated each other, everybody influenced everybody else in some way, and I think that's what made the glory days so great.
Anyway, my influences, not necessarily related to the game whatsoever:
kame - for being my friend and then disappearing off the face of the planet
jello - being the richest, funniest and most attractive dod player (also the loudest)
ackpth - weirdly responsible for my taste in music over the past decade
darkrabbi - in a world where nobody had their shit together, he always did. put up with me even though he didn't have to.
profiction - mainly because of his daft punk alarm clock. perhaps other reasons
ward - possibly the biggest shittalker to ever grace the game. backed it up
eckman - the player everyone wanted to be. talented and nice about it. i watched a whole episode of shalom in the home because of him.
veridian and the entire uTi crew - gave me my first chance to be involved in the community and my first introduction to the hobby of getting drunk while playing videogames
i0nized and everyone at CPL 03 - introduced me to everclear at the tender age of 16. didn't abandon me after i proned in the hyatt regency lobby
Last but not least, the rest of the mogga crew & friends, crazyvato, ivan, timkim, everyone remaining from |NUDE|, for giving the whole scene some life long after the game died for me.
My only regret is being a major-league shithead to almost everybody, all of the time. I could have had a real friendship or two. Anyway, thanks for the memories, ya'll.
