Very good work, awesome movie!
I do have a question though. Is there any particular reason why most dod movie makers don't render their movies in any resolution above 1280x720? My first thought was that the render time compared to the increase in quality was not worth it but I'll let the experts set the record straight. Just curious.

I think it's due to HD space and the time it takes to render the movie. Rendering a movie in 1080p takes much longer compared to rendering it in 720p.dogfire wrote:Very good work, awesome movie!

Thanks everyone for saying nice things <3
I think it's mostly a filesize vs. quality balance. I wanted the video to have a high enough bitrate to eliminate any pixelation or distortion but keep the final filesize small enough to stop people from bitching about it.
HD space definitely plays a part. I captured around 700GB of video data for this. Rendering time shouldn't really be a limiting factor though; these videos are not very complex. I was able to render the whole thing with two-pass encoding during the course of a single scrim. I'd be surprised if it took much longer for a 1080p video.mike wrote:I think it's due to HD space and the time it takes to render the movie.
