The front-page right now is just a slightly modified version of the default wordpress theme. Rather than spend my time trying to modify it trying to get it to work for us, I've started from the ground up for something more geared for a "community news" site.
For now, the forums will remain the primary purpose for 1911, the front-page is still just some **** extension of the forums.
In the next version, the forums will be downgraded to an extension of the front-page, which will have a lot more to it (dependent on people stepping up and creating worthwhile content).
