What Guy?
Re: What Guy?
The gym membership would be solely to take advantage of there weights of course, I've already read enough horror stories about these so called personal trainers.

Good man. All you need is a squat rack, a bench, a barbell and the weights that go with it. Literally, you need no more equipment beyond those things.tr4gik wrote:The gym membership would be solely to take advantage of there weights of course, I've already read enough horror stories about these so called personal trainers.

And, for a good long list of auxiliary isolation stuff that you can do at high intensity (although I'm not a fan of this circuit as is written):

Honestly, the part I have the hardest time getting across to most people, especially beginners, is that jumping into the gym and doing a bunch of isolation training like a body builder isn't not only going make you look stupid, but also put you at risk of injury.
With most people I work with, I spend weeks teaching them proper squat/deadlift technique, and make sure they have a strong and stable core before we move onto anything else. Training to make yourself a bigger/faster/stronger athlete is a totally different process from body building, in which you are doing a lot of isolation (and steroids) to produce a desired aesthetic.
Now, you can go full-retard the other way too, and go crossfit style, but yeah, lets just not go there...

Re: What Guy?
This is why I do juijitsu when I want a real workout. Its uses all muscle movements vs another human, you can't ask for any better strength and conditioning.
Re: What Guy?
This thread didn't make two relevant posts until it got hi-jacked.
Pretty amazing.
