Re: DoD Movie Contest
Nah its cool bro, I'm sure you're good. I was just joking. THere is a guy who always promises to make people's movies but dissapears and never does, trolling whoever. He always aliases and I saw that you had a low post-count so I was joking that you were him.MEGANFOX wrote:If u let me in, ofc i will do the movie. I understand u dont know me, u dont know if i know how to make a movie. So i let u here 4 links.tenks wrote: sorry, one can never be too careful! If we let him enter, he'll say he'll make a movie just to troll us and it will never be made.
I personally wouldn't want this to turn into a frags of the week vid contest because we're limited to only the current clips that are produced (the pool of talent is less these days) and also some people's movie style might be more than just a strait frag movie..Like myself.
I personally don't think music should be a category that is judged, it should just kinda fall under A/V sync....I say that because you can have an amazing video. editing/presenstation/sfx etc...But then if the person hates your taste in music, or just happens to dislike the song you used, they'll down rate/vote you. Its hard to please everyone with music..

Jason good thinking for allowing no names, it would be interesting to see if our community can figure out who makes what based on individual editing styles. Although the HD idea is nice, people such as myself (although I won't be participating) have pretty issues like space requirements or an older computer. I can't really get past rendering in 1024x600 as an example.-720p minimum
-when judged/voted upon the videos shouldn't be labeled with who made them. that way there is no bias
-no country music
Re: DoD Movie Contest
It would be interesting to see if people could figure out who did what, but the main point is you're voting on the video not the person who made it.ao_ wrote:Jason good thinking for allowing no names, it would be interesting to see if our community can figure out who makes what based on individual editing styles. Yea the 720p was more wishful thinking on my part. Im a snob when it comes to that stuff. I figured everyone who could and IS making movies of any kind would be doing so at least 720p/HD at this point in time. But I defiantly don't want to make a rule that would prevent someone from participating, that's not my style (cough tpg).
I also thought it was necessary because I'm afraid someone might get a lower score/vote just cause they have a lower resolution video. I can see someone making a badass edit and rendering it out at 800x600 and losing to a mediocre edit at 1080p just because the 1080p would look cleaner and nicer..I was just trying to make the playing field as even and as fair as possible.

Re: DoD Movie Contest
Cutting out the names of who made something would also remove biases towards voting. I'm assuming, as this is completely for fun and nobody has anything to gain, you wouldn't run the risk of somebody telling others to vote for them.tenks wrote:It would be interesting to see if people could figure out who did what, but the main point is you're voting on the video not the person who made it.ao_ wrote:Jason good thinking for allowing no names, it would be interesting to see if our community can figure out who makes what based on individual editing styles. Re: DoD Movie Contest
would we all use the same agreed upon crosshair? cuz I know jaggon loves his movie crosshair and I have a slightly different one than seven's white crosshair ;p
Re: DoD Movie Contest
I can't tell if you're for or against it, but yes that's the point, removing biased towards voting. It doesn't matter if its for fun or not, people are people, and they will find a way to gain an advantage. In this case getting all their friends to vote for them.stealthlol wrote: Cutting out the names of who made something would also remove biases towards voting. People play dod for fun, there is nothing to gain from that either, yet people still hack and cheat.
Cutting the names from submitted videos won't hurt anything, so I don't see why it shouldn't be considered. If anything it prevents this from turning into a popularity contest.
I dont think that mattersk4b00m wrote:would we all use the same agreed upon crosshair? cuz I know jaggon loves his movie crosshair and I have a slightly different one than seven's white crosshair ;p
Re: DoD Movie Contest
Yeah, only reason being if you don't want the voters to know who made what, it's a dead give away what video jaggon made, he's the only one that uses that bigger white crosshair. Not a huge deal to me though just throwing that out there.tenks wrote:I dont think that mattersk4b00m wrote:would we all use the same agreed upon crosshair? cuz I know jaggon loves his movie crosshair and I have a slightly different one than seven's white crosshair ;p
Re: DoD Movie Contest
haha, I didn't even think about that. That goes to show you how many dod movies I've actually watched start to finish (maybe 1 or 2) and paid attention to. They all look the same to me, no offense, just frags to music. Nothing has really stood out to me in years, except maybe Mutiny 2?k4b00m wrote:Yeah, only reason being if you don't want the voters to know who made what, it's a dead give away what video jaggon made, he's the only one that uses that bigger white crosshair. When you've made over a dozen movies you start to notice the small things ![Embarrassed ](./images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)
