seems i'm also going to need help getting access to my steam account, with not having access to the gmail associated with it anymore..
It's fairly easy to get an account back if you no longer have access to the email attached to the steam account, it happened to me a couple months ago.
If you have either a credit card statement with a purchase of a game on your account or the physical game box with the cd key on it. You can open a ticket with steam and they'll give you a ticket code that you write on the statement or above the cd key and then take a picture of it, post it into ticket and once they confirm it, they will ask you for an email, then they switch the accounts email. They'll send you an email to reset your password.
It's simple to do but it took a week to get a response back after sending the cd key pictures.

almost too much work to care, but thanks for the help. wonder if they'll be able to get it sorted out by Sunday night.

doesn't matter what browser I use, I get the message both through browsers and the client itself :\
. I always expect to see someone join the server at default time but it hasn't happened.
