Depends on how you define "strength" and "conditioning." Cycling is the worlds most energy-taxing event. Weight training is the most pure form of strength training. That's why I do both for my strength and conditioning. Your goals are different than mine, but jujitsu is objectively less of a workout than what I do in terms of energy exerted.Jb_ wrote:This is why I do juijitsu when I want a real workout. I have spent a lot of time trying different things in the weight room and realized the concepts are pretty basic. I always try to focus on the big lifts (squat, bench, deadlift, powerclean, etc) and try to do a lot of core strengthening as well as lower back (still considered part of the core). It is very rare that I do a bicep curl. I swear the gym that I workout at, the squat rack collects dust and goes untouched between the time which I use it.

Pictures plz. You speak so much about diets and lifting, lets see what "the man" looks like.alex kirk wrote:Depends on how you define "strength" and "conditioning." This thread looks promising.
A little more testosterone added to the mix and it will be truly sensational.

Grappling may not be the best thing to do for strength gains, but it is the one of the best ways to learn how to use your whole body and work all your muscles. If having a strong core is one of the most important things, jiujitsu will give that to you.
You'd be surprised how many people get confused on how to do an elbow escape, roll over their shoulder, or go inverted. Like you said the goals are different, you want to lift weights and go ride a bike, I want to choke people for a living. It is only as hard as you train. I've never done anything that was harder than a jiujitsu match.
