Just keep in mind that it is a mod for a military simulator. You won't be getting CoD-like gameplay. You will however get satisfaction in taking out other players using group tactics, maneuver, and communication. Most of the time people will actually die when you light them up, regardless of which gun you are using. One of the most common guns (the Lee-Enfield bolt action) kills in one shot. The question you have to ask yourself before using it is: do I really want to attract every zombie in a 2 mile radius by using it

Just got the game... Seems pretty hard to avoid the zombies.. When does the map start working ? And no weapon ? Where is this axe? Or what would be a good route to follow?

haha yea i see whats going on here it takes some getting use to, the zombies agro like crazy if you make any kind of noise around them and im sure youve ran into a few buildings that didnt have working doors ect...axes/maps/guns will spawn on the ground usualy inside building or sheds in the corners. Hop in our vent its in one of the previous posts you can run around with us and kinda pick things up as we go along

this will help

Crouchwalk / prone will help in avoiding them, as well as using weapons that make less noise. As for maps, you have to loot a map in order to use it. Same applies to watches, compasses, GPS, NVGs, matches, hatchets, knives, etc. Hatchets are typically found in industrial areas. Common weapons can be found in the grocery store, barns, military tents, and residential areas. Military grade weapons (ie. M16s, AKs, etc) are found in military tents and airfields.

When you are first spawning, most people will go to the main cities like Cherno or Elektro to gear up. It's possible to head up north and hit up the smaller towns, but you will be taking a big risk without having plenty of medical supplies, food, water, and a decent weapon. These can all be found in the two cities I mentioned. Failure to acquire morphine will result in an unforseen broken leg in the middle of **** egypt and only being able to crawl.

EDIT: http://dayzdb.com/map <--- if you have a second monitor or a tablet (or hell, even a phone, theres an app for that) you can use this while you play. Alternatively, you can alt-tab, but that may take awhile.

Look what I found.

Looks like they took DayZ and changed some aspects. Been in the works for a year I believe. Should be kinda fun due to the fact that you can group easily with friends, and its free to play after the initial purchase.
