Depends on how you define "strength" and "conditioning." Cycling is the worlds most energy-taxing event. Weight training is the most pure form of strength training. That's why I do both for my strength and conditioning. Your goals are different than mine, but jujitsu is objectively less of a workout than what I do in terms of energy exerted.

(****.)
I really hope you don't take yourself that seriously kirk.
It's hard to say. Kirk has absorbed the persona of your run of the mill bodybuilding.com misc poster.

Agreed. Stile knows exactly what Im talking about. You may be able to bench press 350 but I bet you couldn't bench press me off of you when i'm in side control about to pass full mount and pound your douche bag face in. So who gives a shit about how much weight you can lift. Polaski got his ass kicked by Tim Syliva! and if you don't know who he is just google the goofy ****.

Alex Kirk has only had full mount passed on him once, and I certainly wasn't pounding his face.

My goals are nothing like yours. My goal is to be faster at cycling. I don't lift to get hyooge and pull 700 pounds or to fight other bros. I lift for general conditioning.

You called me out. Don't forget that, broski. I don't lift to be a muscle man, and apparently that's your criteria needed to be able to talk about lifting. Sears' goals differ from mine, hence him being a fan of mass + strength. Those aren't my goals. Doesn't mean I don't know just as much as he does from an empirical standpoint.
stile wrote:Grappling may not be the best thing to do for strength gains, but it is the one of the best ways to learn how to use your whole body and work all your muscles. If having a strong core is one of the most important things, jiujitsu will give that to you.

You'd be surprised how many people get confused on how to do an elbow escape, roll over their shoulder, or go inverted. Like you said the goals are different, you want to lift weights and go ride a bike, I want to choke people for a living. It is only as hard as you train. I've never done anything that was harder than a jiujitsu match.
No quarrel here. Don't take my post as me saying "jiu jitsu is easy." No doubt it's hard and it teaches you certain aspects of strength. But for someone to call it the best is just way too much an exaggeration.

I mean, I was just dishing shit back towards jb...it's kind of a common thing between him and I.

Lol, that's not true. I **** around on here, but if you spent 2 minutes in the misc you'd see I'm nothing like them. Especially in this thread.

I can't bench press 350, haha. Not that many people can, relatively speaking. When the **** are we ever going to fight? Why the hell do you think I care if you can beat me up? That means as little to me as does me claiming that I could destroy you on the bike. Somehow, I doubt you care. Similarly, I could not care less if someone who is a trained fighter can...beat me...at...fighting...
