I just read through that novel she texted you. I wonder what from that was true.

When I got to know her, she said he Mom had passed away recently, her Dad was doing fine at the time(but there was bad blood between them), she was living with her Aunt, and she was an at home caretaker for her autistic cousin named Wyatt. Being a caretaker was her form of income and she was an employee of the state. That may be public record. She also had Crohn's disease.

My first suspicion that she wasn't real was that she said she enjoyed ice cream and nacos/spicy food(first red flags) but said they gave her stomach pains because of the Crohn's. I thought it was strange someone with a decent physique could value food over their body.

After she sent me pictures from her that she said were from that day, I checked with someone else who had all the same pictures, but got them months ago. That was the second red flag. All of the pictures that she sent seemed to be really good pictures. She never had any that were unflattering. I tried to a while to get her to go on skype or just take a mirror shot photo, but it never happened.

When I questioned her identity, she got pretty raged.

Later, I talked with some other people who said they skyped her and none of them had actually seen a video feed of her. She always had a "broken webcam" or it was "on the other side of the room" and she didn't want to get it.

After that I just distanced myself and quit talking to her. She really enjoyed the chase, and deactivating her facebook after a week. I think she activates it when she's luring in a new e-friend. She'd activate the facebook, invite the friend, and then a few days later deactivate it due to being harassed and social pressures.

This whole situation really is sad.

Good job on all the investigative work. I don't know why I didn't think of reverse image searching her... whoever did that, you're ****' brilliant. haha.

Sears, if I were you, I wouldn't do that ****. They'll have to spin it as you were dating her online, and I don't think you want that kind of video of you on national TV. lol. Maybe if they do a segment of people who caught catfish before it was too late.

It'd be great if Courtney would at least explain herself. I think this whole community deserves that. Tell us what's true, what's not and then maybe take a picture of herself with a sheet of paper that reads "Sorry DOD Community"

Ehh. Knowing many of the people in this community, they would just exploit her vulnerability and shame her more so. What good will that do for anyone? Who would that help?

Yeah, I already told them that I wasn't interested, but that I would tell my side of the story if they were interested in pursuing her story for an episode. I don't think they quite understand that I didn't have any kind of a relationship with her and that I was just playing internet detective.

However, if they felt like helping out Vegas Lan...;)

Haha. How did they find your story? Was this posted on other websites already?

It might help her. It could be therapeutic. The mods here are pretty mature, I think they would delete any intentional flaming, or just lock the thread after her post. I didn't get close enough to her to be hurt by finding out she was a Catfish.

The most interesting part of MTV's Catfish is hearing the Catfish's side of the story. So, I'd really just be curious to see what she has to say.

It certainly COULD be given the right group of people to interact with. It could also be further attention for her which would be negative. As in, on the surface it might appear helpful but she only does it with the intention to gain superficial sympathy/support.
