Guys, apparently it's cool to break the rules as long as you don't get caught.

I think cleandod could have potentially killed the community and am thankful that experiment is over.
A client's a **** client. If you're really worried about what a program is doing, HERE YOU GO:

Kinda sick of people claiming a program is doing shit when they have no **** clue.
I wasn't claiming anything. A closer inspection of what i actually wrote will provide you with the details of my personal decision to not use the client.
frankly, lerf, i was baffled after reading your thoughts. seemed very strict and biased tbh. i remember that in 2010 you pm'd questions about CleanDoD and by that time the anti cheat was down. also, saying that the client would kill the community is something really shitty to say. we all play DoD, be it once in a season or not, to have fun. unfortunatelly this very community has too many nerds trying to bypass rules they all accept to comply if they want to play in TPG. the decision of adopting CleanDoD came after severe meetings, tests, community pool and everything pointed towards its usage. i don't want to enter in the merit of your prejudiced comment towards my country because its just a coincidence that anti cheat is from down here but before going into such analysis you should have investigated a little bit further, especially if you're not that active (as you said so). peace.

I just think adding another barrier to playing in tpg is a problem. it is probably fairly rare to get new people playing this game. add on top of that a program that from what i remember is fairly unintuitive and creates a myriad of issues depending on the users computer, isn't logical. now, the reason i believe esl would work is because you have to pay to use it. kind of like esea, people who want an anti-cheat program are opting into it by choice.

I am sorry Cass, i apologize for slighting Brazil and i didn't mean to convey that people from that country lack integrity. however, i'm not familiar with laws there and personally would not be willing to use it. I have always wanted to travel there and eventually will :).

i think i'm lashing out because of the frustration i have when i look at the current direction of the community as a whole. there seems to be a power struggle going on now. I personally am worried that any wrong step will actually be the end of this community and have decided to not play dod. there is the excitement of a new lan and some other goodies coming, i just think that the man in charge is acting foolishly right now and don't want anything to do with it.

i also can't figure out how to delete my account through the control panel.

The percentage of people who had problems with it and didn't ask us to help them fix it (like what was mentioned in the TPG news post) is small. The whole point of it is to enforce rules that we have in place. I can't for the life of me think of any reason to NOT use it. I did read your post, and you implied that someone could be harvesting data from your computer etc. This just isn't happening, and if you used a program like I posted, you would know.

It was not a barrier that was decided lightly. I was very much on the fence about using it. However, after looking at the configs during the tournament I decided that it would be a move that we should explore in preseason. After preseason, it was even more evident that configuration changes (specifically the mousewheel binds and yaw changes) are very, very prevalent in the community. Just check the config that are publicly available to see some of the binds that were used and specifically mentioned after the draft tournament were illegal.

At TPG, we answered every question and worked around many, many problems with people who could not run the AC client for one reason or another. We even had a Mac user who could not use the program, and we allowed him to play without using the client with a couple caveats.

To say that TPG tried to build a wall to separate the community either did not reach out to us directly or did not attempt to fix the system that was put in place. We want everyone to play, but we want everyone to play fairly.

We look forward to working with the upcoming ESL, Vegas LAN, and anything else that may come up. TPG has been around 32 season and we're not looking to kill the community any time soon.

I feel like his bigger concern is that, while the program may not necessarily be harvesting personal information currently, it might be able to be used that way in the future. Not everyone is programming savvy enough to know what is and what is not possible with these types of things, including me.

And cass, I more got the impression that lerfooled was more concerned about the fact that someone with a potential backdoor into his computer is from another country, not just because he is from Brazil. Makes legal recourse very difficult. I don't really know lerfooled personally, but I've seen his posts and community interactions since like 2004 or 05, and I have never got any impression from him other than that he seems like a level headed guy, so I'm sure he wasn't ripping on Brazilians in general. He leaves that to me. Now go back to your tiki hut, eat a banana, and yell at your sister-wife in spanish for wearing too large of a bikini.
