Season 31 Playoff Preview - Invite

Post by nhoj »

gskiLL - gskiLL

John : Now that the season is soon over, what are your overall opinions on how your team performed so far?

Knockout : I thought we performed well. A few of my teammates are upset that we have lost two matches, but I'm not too worked up over it. gskiLL had only lost one match under weird **** before I joined, and then we have only lost one close match to a very good team on a non-playoff map since. Our roster has finally been solidified and I feel it's going to take a lot to beat us in the playoffs.

John : What's your starting lineup?

Knockout : Chuck "talent.zip" D'Angelo is our sniper. Taylor "voice_negative" Graf, Frankie "pre-game pushups" Lawrence, and whatever alias corey uses to reflect his favorite television character at the time are our rifles. Myself and Dr. "it's mostly aim" Butterchubs, M.D. are heavy, and we use the automatic guns.

John : What was your most difficult match of this season?

Knockout : Definitely against thunder on solitude. The map is so frustratingly bad, and when you're put up against a team who is on the same skill level as you, it just becomes really hard to get anything going for either side. Spawning, throwing grenades into tiny chokepoints, and then trading kills and doing it all over again is very difficult against good players.

What team(s) surprised you this season?

Rise Against and iwa. Having played against crixus and his crew of Mexican drug lords in a lot of scrims, I thought they would go at least 17-0 this season. They really struggled to win any matches and I have a feeling they must have just been hiding strats for playoffs. They're still my favorite to win TPG-invite, but I must say I am very surprised they lost so many matches.

iwa surprised me at how well they've done. As far as I know, they have a couple guys at least who are playing new classes and they seem to win more than I would expect them to.

John : How do you see your chances in the playoffs?

Knockout : Seeing as to how we have taylor and greetz on our team, I like them. I think it's going to take a lot out of any of the other teams to beat us when we're playing well. We're going to inevitably run into thunder, and it's going to be a lot of fun to play a group of good players on a map more suitable for competitive play. I'm confident in our performances on the remaining playoff maps, so if we all play near our potential and our teamwork is flowing, I think we have a really good shot at winning it.

John : Any comments or shout-outs?

Knockout : The team would like to make a shoutout to gaul, and we continue to wish the best for him and his future. As for me, this is the most fun I've had playing on a team since playing with gomi and revamped years ago. Shoutouts to my friends still playing dod on other teams, as well as my new dod friends (of which I have like 2). And of course, my good friend, past teammate, current life mentor, and one of the most decorated cyberathletes of all time. The man, the myth, the legend: Greg "coL.chaos" Conlon.

THUNDER - THUNDER

John : Now that the season is soon over, what are your overall opinions on how your team preformed so far?

Hudson : Given that we just play on Sundays I think we're pretty satisfied.

John : What's your starting lineup?

Hudson : It rotates weekly based on availability, but the starters are Tox, Jules, Seven, Dorito, Pat, Hudson

John : What was your most difficult match of this season?

Hudson : I feel like the first match of the season vs. dgf on lennon was really difficult. WatchYourBack and Jarrod really controlled the well, and are two of four rifles I have the most trouble with in DoD...(other two are probably nathan and brandon). Playing against them is just tough, period.

I guess our match on emmanuel vs. gskill was also rough, but I frankly don't even remember it.

John : What team(s) surprised you this season?

Hudson : I feel like dgf has maybe underperformed, not sure what lineups they've been running out though. We've had two very close matches vs. iwa also.

John : How do you see your chances in the playoffs?

Hudson : I honestly think that any NA team could beat any other NA team on any given night. The talent levels are surprisingly close. However, I'd say that THUNDER and gskill have more "impact" talent (Jared, Ryan, Bryan for us, Taylor, Frank, Jordanobese for them). These are all explosive players who really change the game for the opposing team. Having impact talent like that doesn't always win you matches, but it definitely gives you a larger margin of error, so I give a small edge to us and gskill out of the four NA teams, but I still think iwa and dgf have the talent and smarts to win on any night.

John : Any comments or shout-outs?

Hudson : It's been a very drama-free season for THUNDER, except for when Jules went on his two week bender. Shout out to ChubbyMcPizzaPantsFentobese, and to Alex Kirk, who likes long walks on the beach and reading in various virtual Day of Defeat buildings. But only stale, meandering drug-induced **** of no real substance and little coherence. So, his dissertation.

iwa - .iwa

John : Now that the season is soon over, what are your overall opinions on how your team performed so far?

kirk : I think we've been doing pretty great all things considered. There has been mild turbulence in the form of roster changes as I joined week 5 after an 18+ month hiatus, Swiss had computer problems around week 6 and so we brought Mike (not to be confused with mike?) in to snipe, hildebrand has had to pick up heavy in a match or two, etc. But I think we've managed, and I think our record illustrates that. We lost to angryface by 8 points *SOLELY* because I was not on the team yet, and we lost to THUNDER twice by a total of 12 points in those two matches combined. So yeah, we've lost by 20 points this entire season among our three losses. So, being a fan of math, I’ll let the numbers speak for us.

What's your starting lineup?

Brandon “old timer” Newton
Dark “_” Phantom
Alex “master debater” Kirk
Austin “modest Austin” Keller
Kobe “baby daddy” Richard
Mike “NOT mike?” Lastname

Honorable mentions:

Swiss “NietzscheFan420” Cheese
Hilde “I JUST KILLED ONE PERSON EVERYONE PUSH FOR THE FIRST” Brand

John : What was your most difficult match of this season?

kirk : Probably THUNDER on Donner. Not because any of them are remotely good, though, rather because it was Donner. They were so bad I ended up reading a novel in midhouse.

John : What team(s) surprised you this season?

kirk : Rise Against on Harrington for sure. It was a regular back-and-forth and they had us on the ropes for much of the match. Fortunately we were able to cap out twice on axis in the last 2 minutes of second half. They were an excellent team and I absolutely underestimated them probably because I was gone from the scene for a while and can’t keep track of these foreigners with their silly aliases. Ultimately we conquered because these colors don’t run. Freedom: 1, Freedom-haters: 0

John : How do you see your chances in the playoffs?

kirk : I think there are times during matches where we just don’t have our shit together. We’re all good enough individually, but a few times we’ve caught ourselves out of sync with one another and that’s when bad things happen. Like, don’t get in Brandon’s way when he’s trying to nade out of loft, ever. If we can cut that down a bit then I think we have a chance of getting to finals, and yet again, I’ll let the numbers speak for us there. You can’t argue with math.

John : Any comments or shout-outs?

kirk : The iwa bros, of course. The xmvc (except for Kevin), the koala dudes, the 3h losers (except for Kevin), and my fellow TF2 nerds. We’d also like to thank our sponsors, Brazzers, for Swiss’ free lifetime subscription even though that’s what broke his computer.

RISE AGAINST - rise against-

John : Now that the season is soon over, what are your overall opinions on how your team preformed so far?

senCe : In my opinion, our performance has been low. We didn’t practice enough to raise our skill and team play level. I think we could have done much more, this Argentinian guys are really good players.

What's your starting lineup?
Rifle: rod
Rifle: Jonski
3rd: LeooLILA
Heavy: Super
Heavy: berty!
Sniper: senCe

Backup: Nico.

John : What was your most difficult match of this season?

senCe : Against gskiLL on donner. Well, probably it wasn’t our most difficult match but I think it was our worse match, we couldn’t hardly stay on tank, we had to hold on our second.. very frustrating match.

John : What team(s) surprised you this season?

senCe : Not really. We expected this high level and we felt it in each match. In fact, only THUNDER have surprised me a little bit this season, they lost some players but they are top with gskiLL, their teamplay still work well.

John : How do you see your chances in the playoffs?

senCe : I don’t see our chances. But I think we can do something to improve our season, and I hope we can win one match on playoffs at least!

John : Any comments or shout-outs?

senCe : To my mates of bSunday, riseagainst and htk guys.. Pipe, Dagun, Spawnz and Shoolta..

devil - devil^

John : Now that the season is soon over, what are your overall opinions on how your team preformed so far?

jaz : We sucked!

John : What's your starting lineup?

jaz : Well basically bull, watch, Justin, kaboom cheech and myself atm. Earlier in the season we had John and throughout most of the season we used Jarrod. So it has definitely changed a lot from beginning to the end.

John : What was your most difficult match of this season?

jaz : Not sure we had one. Every match was pretty close.

John : What team(s) surprised you this season?

jaz : None really. Same old.

John : How do you see your chances in the playoffs?

jaz : Not sure. Hopefully we can get our shit together and get something going.

John : Any comments or shout-outs?

jaz : Only 1. Our gay mascot Pat. Thanks for always being around to ring in scrims! <3

RenameD representative will (hopefully) give the me answers later, so I can edit this post.
