dota?
I guess I'm looking for a DotA team since there is a new division. I played HoN for a bit and was never good, but I got decent at DotA. I like a wide variety of heroes, I like ursa and puck the most though. I'm interested to play this game competitively, and from what I've heard I know a lot of you are good, but I'm not that good.

Re: dota?
I think dod players are overselling their Dota 2 skills. I've played with many of the dod players that play dota, and I wouldn't consider any of them good. The best bet is for you guys to get together with a group of 5 friends and play together a lot and work on strategies, drafts, teamwork, and individual play. If your focus is on getting better, then you will get better. As of now, I don't think anyone from the dod community that plays Dota 2 is on any level of skill higher than any other dod player who plays Dota 2. And I've played with/seen many of you play.scndrlsk wrote:I guess I'm looking for a DotA team since there is a new division. I played HoN for a bit and was never good, but I got decent at DotA. A big mistake many Dota 2 players make is that they think they're better than they are, and that's a major pit fall when it comes to getting better at Dota (or anything for that matter). If you think you're doing the right thing, even when it's obviously failing, you need to be able to step back and be objective about your decisions.
My advice for you (and anyone else who plays Dota and wishes to get better) would be reading through this guide: http://www.purgegamers.com/welcome-to-dota-you-suck. Read through the entire thing. I was pretty shitty at hon/dota for probably well over 300 games played, and I wish this were made available for me when I started to play the game. Over the past 18 months I've become infinitely better through the 1100 or so games I've played.
If you want to get better, message me on steam whenever and I'll hop on one of my smurf accounts and play some games with you. I've been playing a lot of games recently with greetz, cableguy, bigs, motiv, and a few others, and we generally have a lot of fun. All I ask is that if you ask for help/my advice, you take it, and not try to immediately argue about how bad you are the way biggie does. Biggie sucks.

Re: dota?
Make teams for this league, it's a lot of fun as long as everyone is new. Plus there a million videos, articles, etc you can learn from.

Re: dota?
I will not be playing in this league, as I plan on doing full time coverage of this league, and using it as a launching platform for my Dota 2 coverage trio as we build up towards TI4
Re: dota?
I will be looking for a team as well. I am probably one of the least experience guys here, only like 220 games played, but I think I am improving. My biggest weakness is that I stuck to a lot of the same heroes. I try new ones whenever Single Draft pops, but other than that I am somewhat limited with heroes that I am "successful" with.

Re: dota?
That's normal/a good thing. When you look at the pro level games, most players play about 5-10 heroes. Unless you're dendi and you can win mid with like 25 different heroes.defiance wrote:I will be looking for a team as well. Edit: unless you have like 80 games played as Bloodseeker or something stupid
