Hey guys,
As we know 'tis the season! Most of the family members outside immediate family usually just give me gift cards or money and with that I plan on dropping some money on a actual headset. Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of brands/models? What to look for in one? What to stay away from? Any help would be awesome!
Happy Holidays & Cheers,
Nicholson

I've always liked the $50 and up plantronics gamecom headsets. their cheapo models always broke on me for no reason. I like my gamecom 777's. comfy, hear everything loud and clear in good quality and don't look ridiculous:

Buy headphones + mic instead for a gaming headset.
My 2 cents

i've been thinking about a new headset as well. did quite a bit of reading and there are too many opinions.
still not sure if a higher end "7.1/5.1 surround sound" headset is worth it. like the razer tiamat/kraken or gamecon 780. or if you should just get a decent headset and go for a nice soundcard instead.
at the moment my gamecon 377 do well. like dat xero said they did break kinda easily but still comfy to wear with some tape
. plus with something like the razer surround sound program they do a pretty good job of creating virtual surround sound to me.

never could bring myself to do this but it's something else I read. some of the outstanding sound only headphones do the absolute best for situational positioning.

you don't need sound to see through walls, go with ear buds.

This is pretty much the best headset you can get under 300 bucks, however what john said it true, getting headphones and a separate mic will generally get you a MUCH better set of cans for a decent bit less than an equivalent headset. Also BUDGET PLEASE SIR!

I have a cheap $40 logitech headset with no mic, great for player positioning like red said.
