Dear 1911

So for multiple, multiple months now I've been having several issues with my laptop some minor... some not so minor (Lesson learned). One issue that has appeared lately is these little dots/lines on my screen. They appear randomly from time to time, sometime they're on my desktop, sometimes they're not. I've noticed they appear more frequently in darker shades/colours. They also appear on my TV screen when I hook up my TV via HDMI. I've spoke to some people about this in vent, gotten their opinions on what they think it is. Just wondering what a general kinda consciousness would be of what everyone thought would cause this most recent issue.

EDIT: They appear in the picture above on my screen, not sure if they will on anyone elses

Well the fact that it's actually showing up in a screenshot says that it's not the flex cable that runs to your LCD screen or any cable at all for that matter.

Honestly, it can be a lot of things but obviously the thing I'm suspecting that is causing the issue is your graphics device. What laptop do you have and what are it's specs?

Believe it or not I've seen issues like this stem from bad sticks of ram, try running the laptop with one stick (Assuming it has two) at a time and you may notice a difference?

Another question to answer that is fairly important. Does this issue happen outside of windows? In other words, does it happen while the computer is booting up or in the BIOS/CMOS screen? This answers the question of whether or not it could be a driver/software issue.

I believe its you're videocard/gpu. Have the dots slowly been increasing in number over time, and are still continuing to do so? If yes, its your videocard slowly dying.

what brand/make/model videocard?

as tenks said, it's probably your GPU overheating or breaking, try cleaning all the dust out of the laptop, though artifacting like that may mean it's too late

Try hitting it with a hammer see if that works. But no really run bios and see if there's any problems there.

I've had this issue in the past. Replaced GPU fixed it 100%...don't know what you'll do about a laptop graphics card though, not sure if it's replaceable.

You had the problem when you had to much grease on your heat sink, remember that?

P.S. Bewton sighting.
