Lets talk cleaning
Lets talk cleaning
There hasn't been a weightlifting thread in a while... so why not? I always have preference to do Olympic lifts and find that my overhead press is much stronger than the actual cleaning portion. I did a quick little video of myself performing cleans (no presses) to analyze my form. From what I see, I lack any hip explosion and feel like I need to be more upright at the start of my clean.
Throw a few pointers my way.

I forgot that I wanted to turn this video of me power cleaning 135 pounds a whopping eight times into a thread of insecurity by proving who is the most masculine person on nineteeneleven. Andy all you need to do is post a picture of yourself with about four hot girls around you, one kissing your cheek, then also proclaim how big your penis is and you will have successfully hit upon all aspects of proving yourself on the internet.FLuXXuHH wrote:I challenge you to record and come see me at
Bench (315lbs)

Row (240 m)

Ski erg (240m)

Re: Lets talk cleaning
I'm not really that great at oly lifting. I do powercleans and hang cleans though.
You already pointed out the most obvious thing which is your hip extension into the lift. It looks like you're losing a good amount of power from that. Also, like you said, you should be more upright at the beginning of the lift. It's not a deadlift.
It's hard to tell how much you're using your shoulders, but it was explained to me that you're essentially doing a shrug to explode the bar up. You don't want to be using your arms too much.
I'd get away from jumping, just extend up to your toes. Personal preference.
If you're doing cleans, you should only be doing singles or doubles. Also, typically when you do a form check you do a heavier weight that forces your form to breakdown. It's hard to see when you're easily repping 135.
Forgot to say, but good job getting your elbows underneath the bar. I think thats a problem some people have.

I'd practice with some hang cleans also. It helps with learning the extension portion of the clean.
