How do I get good?
I'm new to 12mans in dod 1.3 I've played quite a few now but I most of the time am at the bottom of the leaderboard. I am mostly assigned the heavy class and I am learning nade spots and stuff to kill the enemy but I just don't get how everyone is a legend on this game.
I have played alot of Source 12 mans and the skill difference is like black and white. Everyone on 1.3 is very good and most 12 mans on source are just normal pub stars and not many comp players from the late 2000s and early 2010s. I understand the recoil and the grenade system in 1.3 and I have got a config and a new crosshair but I just don't seem to get better. I normally go 15-30 on most game and I want to consistently get 20+ a game. I watch loads of fragmovies and the movement I think is one problem and my positioning.
My rates, interp and other commands are already in the game I just need some help
What can I do to get better?

Pop into the HLTV, if you're not playing, and watch the players that are using your preferred class.
Learn the maps and call outs so you can react quickly to information your teammates are giving you.
Pay attention to kill feed and mini map to understand what's happening on other parts of the map / help with rotations.
Most importantly, keep playing and learning... won't happen overnight but you should start to see improvements if you stick with it. We all were new at one point, just have to put in the time.

Re: How do I get good?
Thank you, i am planning on looking at the demos that the best heavys play. I know a few good players so maybe studying how they play can enable me to emulate how they used to play maybeteamowner wrote: Thu Mar 28, 2019 8:12 am Pop into the HLTV, if you're not playing, and watch the players that are using your preferred class.

Re: How do I get good?
Oh about 60 years ago I paid ol' MaX Shapiro 20 dollars to teach me how2play the game; and here is some of his advice.
'set up free kills. let people come to you, set up around a corner and you'll see them before they see you.'
'I'm a heavy so im not that great with nades.'
that's all the quotes i can remember.
;D in all seriousness; It will take time to develop the feel of the recoil. you just need to send a million trillion shots down range and control that recoil - but in the mean time just work on playing smart. Positioning is key as a heavy.
Also get really good at crouch hopping. I feel like couch hopping around corners in a staple of all heavys. I think what you are doing by watching the old videos is perfect, watching HLTV's of some decent heavys is better. HLTV's will give you more accurate representation of what its like; the movies just give you the cool shit.

Re: How do I get good?
Thank you cory, I have been practicing routes in my own time such as on anzio through plaza and practising my shooting from those ranges and working out spots to get nades and wallable spots.
I like 12 manning, the community is good and most of the people are friendly and have been teaching me quite a lot of things. I played friendly 12 mans with my friends in source and I played alot of realism but there is a healthy change in this game.
