§2.3.1 Client Config


Players rates must be between the following values during match play:

rate - 50000 to maximum value
cl_cmdrate - 80 to maximum value
cl_updaterate - 80 to maximum value

Has anyone been playing with these rates...... what's wrong with old rates, us old people don't like change :mrgreen: TPG if its not broke don't fix it ! :idea:

dod and cs were updated, I guess goldsource in general was updated, the new rates work better

The latest dod update allowed higher max rates to accommodate the improved internet connections since the HL engine was released decades ago. It's a good thing; the more updates you send and receive with the server, the more accurate the model placement should be on your screen. the only reason to ever use less than MAX rates is if you have choke, which i never get these days except for on shitty russian public servers


....having said that, the reg has been **** terrible since the new update. something is thoroughly b0rked in the netcode, especially with the rifle, and bullets just go straight through enemy models all the time. no proof that high rates are to blame though, reg seems bad with all rate/interp combinations. it could just be me expecting to be as pro as i was in 2005, but quite a few others have mentioned it recently too

Yeah I hear ya ....last night I was playing and looked like I was dead on a lot of my shots and no cigar. I have played around with the fps rate thingy and the old rates it seemed fine on 400.....so I dropped to 300 and now I think I'll try 500.

Does anyone have any suggestions please ?

Also after the new patch If you talk to me via in game communication .... I will not be hearing you as all I can hear is people sound like a computer and can not make out anything....in short plz type if ya need me. :)

having an updaterate higher than your fps will severely disadvantage you. so according to these rules, if you render less than 80 fps consistently, you are screwed.

pretty sure my old pentium IV system from 2002 could manage 80 FPS on a 12 man server

cool story. pretty sure my 4200+ x2 and 4850 only give me about 60.

fps_max is what I meant ........ and I get 100 fps but still same hit reg :shock: its almost interp like back in the old TFC days shoot ppl around corners.
